Media Center

The Media Center is an excellent resource for both the students and staff at Kruse. With almost 18,000 copies providing information in a variety of formats, Media Center users can easily locate materials that both support curriculum units and provide a wide variety of quality fiction for personal reading pleasure. The Media Center collection has grown stronger each year thanks to the support of the district, and the Kruse PTA.

The Kruse Media Center has an open circulation policy. With teacher permission, students may visit the Media Center at any time during the school day to check out, renew or return items. In addition, space is available for students who wish to use the Media Center for individual reference or small group work. Teachers often bring entire classes to work with the Media Center Director to find information on curriculum units being studied in the classroom.

To promote reading growth and to promote knowledge of a wide variety of literature, story times are offered weekly for each of the primary grade classes. Intermediate grade classes visit for booktalks about great new books and award winning authors.

Another important activity in the Kruse Media Center is the teaching of information skills needed by students as they become life-long learners. To improve student's ability to access, understand, and evaluate the enormous amount of information available today, library and information skill lessons are provided as appropriate to each grade level. Students learn how to use electronic and traditional resources.

Finally, the Media Center at Kruse is a place for fun. Each day all ages share their excitement over a new author, a new title, or new information discovered. The Kruse Media Center is a place where eyes light up! Please encourage students to visit often.
